Nothing happens when the power button is pressed. What should I do?
Recharge your Sonicare toothbrush overnight. Also, make sure the charger is plugged into an outlet that isn't controlled by a light switch.
Why does the brushing seem less powerful?
There are several reasons why you may be "losing" power including:
- Your handle may need recharging.
- Easy-start may be on and need to be shut off.
- You may need to clean your brush head.
- You may need to replace your brush head.

I just got my Sonicare toothbrush and the light won't stop blinking. What's going on?
Some Sonicare Advance, Essence, Elite, and FlexCare models come with the Recharge Indicator feature. This feature causes your Sonicare toothbrush's charge indicator light to "blink" when it's receiving a charge. It should stop blinking when it's fully charged (usually about 24 hours).
Why is there a series of beeps right when my toothbrush shuts off?
Your Sonicare toothbrush has a Recharger Indicator feature that notifies you if 3 or fewer brushings remain. The signal to recharge your Sonicare toothbrush is 5 rapid beeps (Advance models) or 3 rapid beeps (Elite and Essence models) after the 2-minute cycle is complete.
Why don't I ever hear the 5 beeps after I finish brushing with my Sonicare Advance toothbrush?
The 5-signal beep only occurs when:
- Your Sonicare model is equipped with the Recharge Indicator feature.
- 3 or fewer brushings remain.
- You have used your Sonicare toothbrush for the entire 2-minute cycle.
Note: If you always store your handle in the charger base, you'll see slow blinking during charging, but never see the rapid flashing or hear the 5-beep signal that indicates 3 or fewer brushings remain.
Why does the brush head rattle when I use my Sonicare toothbrush?
Your Sonicare toothbrush should produce a gentle hum during operation. Tightening the cuff that holds the brush head to the handle can eliminate excessive rattling. If rattling doesn't stop, you may need to replace the brush head.
My Sonicare toothbrush makes a loud noise when I turn it on. What should I do?
Be sure to remove the clear plastic travel cap from the brush head before turning on your Sonicare toothbrush. Also, make sure the cuff that holds the brush head to the handle is secure.
What should I do if my Sonicare develops an odor?
Try one of the following:
Clean your Sonicare thoroughly according to our instructions.
Replace your brush head with a new one.
